Ever wanted to have a custom Linux of your own? I am not a Linux expert, but always wanted to create a Linux version of my own. This is one of my dreams.. :)

There are plenty of tutorials available, about making your own live cd and Linux distro. But all those needs some time, learn all the basics and then start creating it. I am lazy, and this is not very easy for me. I know there are lot of  people like me. :)

For people like me, who wanted to make a Linux distro but dont have enough time and knowledge, there is a way, “NimbleX 2

NimbleX 2

NimbleX 2

This is a website which gives you options to create a linux distro based on what components you need. Once you select the options, you can download a copy of the custom Linux and use it for Free.

It is a wizard based page and gives you option to select that categories we want to inlcude in our distro. The basic categories are

  • Office
  • Games
  • Network
  • Graphics
  • Multimedia
  • System
  • Develop
  • Libraries
  • Drivers

It is packed with some of the famous tools like open office, browsers like Firefox, Opera, and various other tools like SAMBA, Remote Desktop,Thunderbird etc. Once you select the options, you can also add some funky wallpapers available in the site or you can upload your own pictures. At the end of the wizard it will give you an option to download your distro. Burn it and  enjoy.

You can customize it according to your needs. Basically i am working as an IT Support specialist, so created my Linux distro with some networking tools to troubleshoot my network.

Folks, now create your own distros and amaze your friends too.  :)

PS: You can create only one distro a day.

I have done customizing linux destros and creating custom destros when I was at my college, It was too hard to do it that time. I had long sleepless nights to complete one such thing. But nowadays linux is gone so superb, which made making custom destros as simple as clicking on web interfaces.
